A lamp assembly, particularly intended for use on a motor vehicle, comprises a reflector which receives a light bulb, and a first lens element which overlies the reflector and which has formed on one surface thereof a multiplicity of individual lenses. A baffle is secured to the opposite surface of the first lens element, and includes a multiplicity of light-transmitting portions each of which is disposed on the optical axis of a respective one of the individual lenses and whose extent is limited to that necessary to transmit substantially the whole of a pencil of light rays which is focussed by the respective individual lens. The remainder of the baffle is light-obstructing. A second lens element overlies the first lens element and the baffle, and also includes a multiplicity of individual lenses which are in no particular registration with the individual lenses of the first lens element. The first lens element can be shaped suitably for the securement thereto of the baffle, which is advantageously made from planar material, whereas the second lens element can be shaped according to the desired external configuration of the lamps assembly.

When the light source 1, located at the focus of the reflector 2, is turned on, a collimated beam of rays is formed, which, passing through the optical lens raster 3, is focused 25 by the elements of the raster 4 in the plane of the masking screen 5. I The invention relates to electronic technology, in particular to light-signaling devices for vehicles. The aim of the invention is to reduce the dimensions of the lamp assembly. FIG. 1 shows the construction of the lamp assembly; Figures 2 to 4 show a masking screen, embodiments. The lamp assembly contains a light source 1, an optical focusing theme consisting of a reflector 2 and an optical lens raster 3, a clipping reflector and a raster 4 formed by many individual elements, a masking screen 5 installed in the focal plane of the optical lens raster and a lens 6. The device works as follows in a way. : When the light source 1, located in the focus of the reflector 2, is turned on, a collimated beam of rays is formed, which, passing through the optical lens raster 3, is focused by raster elements 4 in the plane of the masking screen 5. The masking screen has light transmitting sections 7 according to the number of raster elements 4, located on their optical axes, while the size of the light-transmitting areas is limited by the size sufficient to allow the entire beam of light to be focused with its corresponding raster element. The structure of the optical lenticular screen 3 may be different. When the elements of section 4 are made in the form of cylindrical lenses that are parallel to each other, the light transmitting portions are a set of light transmitting strips (Fig. 2). When performing the elements of the raster in a form other than cylindrical, the light-transmitting portions of the masking screen take the form shown in FIG. 3 and 4. At the same time, the lens raster is made respectively of elements having different curvature in two mutually perpendicular directions and spherical elements. The luminous flux of the radiation source thus converted falls on the diffuser 6, which has the structure necessary to ensure a given light distribution.
